Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Australian skipper Pat Cummins wanted to ensure that he secured his first Test series over India at home and away. And with the series now scheduled to be played on home soil, Cummins was keen to finally tick that off the list.

A Focus On Home Advantage

In a recent interview with AAP, Cummins emphasized the importance of winning at home. “It’s kind of the one big thing that I want to tick off,” he said. “Most Australians, including myself, expect us to perform well whenever we play at home.”

However, Cummins admitted that they had conceded the last two series here to India, so that is going to be quite a stiff test in this forthcoming series. “We feel like our team’s in a really good place, so we have every reason to perform well.”.

Australia last won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2014, winning 2-0 against India in a four-test series. Since then, India has dominated four consecutive series, two of which they won in Australia.

Rohit Sharma’s side reaches Australia as a side whose confidence may be a bit bruised on the back of their first home series defeat in twelve years. Cummins can only hope that this one loss will play to his advantage. “Any time a team’s under pressure, it’s not a bad thing if you’re playing against them,” he added. “Our job is to keep them quiet and see how we perform.”.

The long-awaited series between Australia and India will now begin on November 22 in Perth. The teams will now gear up for the stiff challenge and the battle ahead. Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been on their minds and are eager to end a losing streak against India, and they have been under the captain Cummins.
