YSR Congress Party leader and Rajampet MP PV Midhun Reddy was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Saturday after prolonged questioning in the multi-crore liquor scam.
After the arrest, SIT officials informed Mr. Reddy’s family. The arrest was expected as the Supreme Court had rejected his anticipatory bail plea on July 18. A total of 12 accused have been arrested in the case so far.
The investigating agency alleges that Midhun Reddy played a key role in the big scam and along with other accused, misappropriated the money collected from distillery companies.
When he appeared before the SIT for the second time on Saturday, he was questioned on several points including setting up of new distillery businesses, collection of commission from liquor traders, depositing that money in his companies, his relationship with co-accused.
Reacting to this, Mr. Reddy alleged that the case was completely politically motivated and he was wrongly implicated. As quoted by The Hindu, he mentioned, “I will fight this false case legally,” and then left for the SIT office.
YSRCP MP PV Midhun Reddy arrived in Vijayawada today, where he appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and deposed in connection with the case involving the recently arrested accused Dhanunjay Reddy, Krishna Mohan Reddy and Balaji Govindappa. Reacting to the development, the YSRCP accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of misusing power and targeting leaders close to party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
