‘We’re Proud Of Our Son’: Shubhanshu Shukla’s Father Speaks With Pride As Indian Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla To Land On July 15

Shambhu Dayal Shukla, said, "We are very happy that the undocking took place safely. We expect that the landing will also take place smoothly tomorrow. We have faith in the Almighty. We are all very proud of our son."

The Dragon spacecraft successfully undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) on Monday. Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla and the crew are expected to splash down on July 15.

Shubhanshu’s father, Shambhu Dayal Shukla, said, “We are very happy that the undocking took place safely. We expect that the landing will also take place smoothly tomorrow. We have faith in the Almighty. We are all very proud of our son. The country is very proud of him that he is coming back after successfully completing the mission.”

Shubhanshu’s mother, Asha Shukla, said, “The undocking has taken place successfully, and we hope that he will land successfully too. We pray that he lands successfully tomorrow.”

Shukla conducted scientific, technical tasks

Group Captain Shukla, a key member of the Axiom-4 mission, spent his time aboard the ISS engaged in scientific and technical operations alongside astronauts from other countries.

The crew is scheduled to undock from the ISS on July 14 at around 4.35 PM IST, with splashdown expected in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California at approximately 3 PM IST on Tuesday, July 15, with the return journey taking around 22 hours.

Shukla delivered a stirring speech

On Sunday, a farewell was held for the crew members at ISS, where Shubhanshu Shukla delivered a stirring speech, in which he quoted iconic words of Cosmonaut Rakesh Sharma: “Aaj ka Bharat abhi bhi saare jahaan see acha dikhta hai” (Today’s India is still more splendid than the entire world).
