Light to heavy rains are expected to fall in several areas of the nation throughout the next three to four days. Strong winds could also occur during this time in various locations.

Nearly all of the nation is free of monsoon. Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra will continue to have dry weather across the northwestern and eastern parts of India. On the other side, isolated areas of Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, the Andaman-Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka today had mild to moderate rain and high winds. A yellow notice for rain in 12 states has been issued by the meteorological department today.

A well-marked low-pressure area is seen over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of the East Central Bay of Bengal. Associated Sitarang cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 Km above the mean sea level. It is expected to move in North West direction and concentrate into a depression over East Central and adjoining southeast Bay by today afternoon. It is likely to move in a northerly direction and may concentrate into a deep depression by today (October 24). Thereafter it is likely to recurve in the north- northeast direction and intensify into a cyclonic storm over West Central and adjoining the east-central Bay of Bengal by October 25. It may move in the Northeast direction and reach near the West Bengal and Bangladesh coast by the morning of October 25 skirting Odisha coast.

A trough extends from the well-marked low-pressure area over the Southeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal to the southeast Arabian Sea across Tamil Nadu and Kerala and extends up to 5.8 Km above mean Sea level.

A cyclonic circulation is over Haryana and adjoining areas at lower levels.

Western disturbance over Jammu Kashmir is moving away Eastwards.

Weather Activity in the last 24 hours:

During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain with a few heavy spells occurred over Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells occurred over South Madhya Maharashtra.

Scattered light to moderate rain occurred over Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Goa.

Light rain occurred over Lakshadweep, the south coast of Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, interior Karnataka, and at one or two places over Southwest Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada, and Telangana.

Weather Activity in the next 24 hours:

During the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain with few heavy spells is possible over Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Scattered light to moderate rain may occur over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, south Konkan and Goa, the south coast of Andhra Pradesh, and coastal Karnataka.

Light rain is possible over Lakshadweep, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura.
