Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar has announced that the Vande Bharat train service between Bengaluru and Dharwad will now be extended to Belagavi, after Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw approved it, said MP in a statement.
The operation of the Vande Bharat train from Belagavi will provide tremendous relief to the people of Belagavi and surrounding area by cutting down the travelling time to a handful of major destinations.
Shettar thanked all the authorities in a letter to Union Minister Pralhad Joshi as this decision would help lakhs of people. The Vande Bharat train currently leaves Dharwad at 1.15 pm and arrives at Bengaluru at 7.45 pm, and this schedule will likely be altered and adapted after this announcement. The Vande Bharat train from Pune to Hubballi traverses Belagavi, however, for a long time now, the people of Belagavi are asking for one additional train to reach Bengaluru.
Previously, several leaders indicated, such as Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna, Jagdish Shettar, and Rajya Sabha Member Iranna Kadadi, that the government would soon announce the train to Bengaluru. Last month, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar mentioned that the state is planning to start new buses and plans to propose new trains along many routes to improve connectivity. Along with shortening travel time, the train to Bengaluru would uplift the economy in the region.
The India Meteorological Department stated on Saturday that several districts in Karnataka, including the state capital Bengaluru, are expecting light to heavy rain until May 7. It also stated that while the weather change will help lessen the temperature and relief the residents from the heat, the temperature will again start to rise after May 10.
