UP Govt To Provide Pink Scooters To 1,100 Women Beat Constables

The construction of Pink Booths and the provision of electric two-wheel scooters for this phase have been given a timeline of three months.

The Yogi government has accelerated efforts to set up 3,000 Pink Booths across the state of Uttar Pradesh and provide Pink Scooters to all 10417 women beats under the Safe City Project.

A proposal in this regard has been prepared and submitted to the government by the Women and Child Protection Organization and is likely to be implemented soon after the approval of the state government.

In the first phase of the project, it has been decided to construct Pink Booths at 20 religious places spread over nine cities of the state, while instructions have been given to provide electric two-wheeler scooters to 1100 women beat constables in 17 municipal corporations and Gautam Buddha Nagar.

The construction of Pink Booths and the provision of electric two-wheel scooters for this phase have been given a timeline of three months. It is worth mentioning here that the Safe City project is to be completed in three phases in Uttar Pradesh. The first phase includes 17 municipal corporations along with Gautam Buddha Nagar. In the second phase, 57 district headquarters, and municipal corporations will be included, and in the third phase, 143 municipal corporations will be connected to the Safe City Project.

B.P. Jogdand, the ADG of Women and Child Safety Protection mentioned that in the first phase of the Safe City Project, Pink Booths will be constructed at 20 religious places in nine cities of the state, including Varanasi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Mathura, Gorakhpur, Agra, Balrampur, and Chitrakoot.

Jogdand added that the single-storey Pink Booths will be built at all these locations and that the Home Department has sent a proposal of Rs 1.66 crore for this purpose. Additionally, a letter was written to the police officers of all nine districts to identify the land for the pink booth and share the information, out of which reports have come from many districts. ADG mentioned that as soon as the budget is released by the Home Department, the construction work for the booths will commence.

In the second phase of the project, 501 Pink Booths will be built in municipal corporations and Gautam Buddha Nagar, while in the third phase, 2,480 Pink Booths will be constructed in the remaining cities of the state. Similarly, in the first phase of the project, two GPS-equipped pink scooters will be handed over to 550 police stations of the divisional headquarters and Gautam Buddha Nagar, which will be used by 1100 women-beat constables. For this, a proposal of Rs 15.60 crore has been sent to the Home Department.

As soon as the green signal is received from the government, Pink Scooty will be made available to 550 police stations. Both the proposals may get a green signal from the government this month. The department is also preparing a plan for the second and third phases.

As part of the Safe City Project, the Women and Child Safety Organization has prepared a 6-month calendar to raise awareness among women and girls in the first phase, covering 17 municipal corporations and Gautam Buddha Nagar. This calendar has been handed over to the Information and Public Relations Department. Currently, the department is actively promoting the first phase in all the districts.
