A police sub-inspector slapped a shopkeeper multiple times in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra. The sub-inspector had gone to serve a notice to the shopkeeper. The incident took place under the Loha Mandi police station limits. The assault was captured on a CCTV camera. A video of the incident went viral on social media.
According to reports, a woman had filed a complaint with the police against the shopkeeper, who allegedly kept the jewellery worth Rs two lakh as collateral from the woman. The shopkeeper did not return the jewellery or provide money in exchange. Despite repeated request from the police to receive the notice, the shopkeeper did not turn up.
The CCTV footage shows when the sub-inspector reached the shop, and asked the shopkeeper to come outside. When he refused, he slapped him multiple times. A customer was also seen in the gift shop. The shopkeeper cited that as there were customers in the shop, he could not leave.
The agitated cop lost his cool and slapped him. He allegedly snatched his mobile phone too. The Agra police reacted to the incident while mentioning that an ACP level officer is probing the incident and necessary action will be taken after the probe.
