‘The Water Won’t Go Anywhere’: Union Jal Shakti Minister Responds To Bilawal Bhutto On Indus Water Treaty

Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil has strongly rejected the provocative remarks made by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, who warned that halting water flow under the Indus Water Treaty would result in “a river of blood” flowing in India.

Union Jal Shakti minister CR Patil reiterated India’s tough action suspending India’s Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) firm belief that such was the nation’s interest and disregarded warnings from Pakistan as hollow threats.

“This decision belongs to the Indian government and the Prime Minister… There is no update on the abeyance of the treaty. Whatever decision will be taken will only benefit the nation,” Patil said when asked about the current status of the treaty in a presser.

Patil was addressing former Pakistan foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari remarks when he started writing. “The water won’t go anywhere… What he says is his own question… We are not afraid of false threats.”

According to ANI Reports, “Bilawal Bhutto said many things, but we are not afraid of his comments, ‘Hum gidar bhabkiyon se nahi darte’. “Patil’s comments come days after Bilawal Bhutto’s sharp statements directed towards India.

India’s response comes after the terror attack with the suspension of its participation to the India-Pakistan decades old decades old treaty of water sharing treaty governing the use of six rivers in the Indus basin. The decision was part of a series of punitive measures imposed against Pakistan regarding Islamabad’s harboring of terrorism from its soil.
