Noida International Airport: Height Restrictions And Tree Plantation Ban Within 20 km Radius

This warning has been issued especially for builders, real estate developers, local bodies, land owners and residents of the area

The construction of Noida International Airport is now in its final stages, and keeping this in mind, the authorities have issued directives that any construction work or planting of trees within a radius of 20 km from the airport is completely prohibited without height clearance or No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Airport Authority of India (AAI).

This warning has been issued especially for builders, real estate developers, local bodies, land owners, and residents. Airport COO, Mr. Kiran Jain, said that this approval is not a mere formality but a necessary safety measure to avoid any kind of disruption to the flight operations and navigation systems.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has made a guideline related to height control under GSR 751 (E) rule, 2015, for the safe flight of aircraft. According to these rules, no high structure can be built without approval in the protected airspace around the airport, as it may pose a threat to aircraft, and Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS) may be affected. This information has been given in a press statement issued by YEIDA.

Before starting construction or tree plantation, all concerned people must take permission from the local administration. The officials will decide the height of construction allowed at the proposed location based on the color-coded zoning map (CCZM) issued by AAI. If the proposed height exceeds the prescribed limit, then a No Objection Certificate (NOC) becomes mandatory.

The government has implemented the “Aircraft (Demolition of Obstructions caused by Buildings and Trees) Rules” in 2023 to ensure compliance with these rules. Under these rules, officials have the right to remove structures or trees built without permission and take legal action.

A senior NIAL (Noida International Airport Limited) official said that builders and residents should stop unauthorised constructions with immediate effect and apply for the necessary NOC in time. Timely compliance will ensure that the Noida International Airport can operate safely, systematically and without any hindrance, and this airport will become an important hub for the region.
