Traffic chaos continues at the Delhi-Noida borders as heavy security measures remain in place amid ongoing farmers’ protests. Commuters faced significant delays on Tuesday due to extensive barricading implemented to manage the situation following the farmers’ march that began on Monday.
The protest, organized by the Bharatiya Kisan Parishad (BKP), has drawn participants from 20 districts in Uttar Pradesh, who are demanding increased compensation for land acquisition and better land allocation policies.
As farmers gathered at Mahamaya Flyover, they attempted to push through police barricades, leading to severe congestion across major routes. The Noida Police deployed thousands of officers, including paramilitary forces, to maintain order and monitor the situation using drones. Despite these efforts, traffic was heavily affected, with reports of commuters stuck for hours on routes like the DND Flyway and Chilla border.
The protest is rooted in long-standing grievances regarding land acquisition for urban development projects, with farmers arguing that previous compensation promises have not been fulfilled. While police managed to prevent the farmers from entering Delhi, many protesters remained determined to voice their demands, leading to ongoing disruptions for daily commuters.
Local residents expressed frustration over the traffic conditions, with some opting for alternative routes or public transport to avoid the jams. The situation remains fluid as both protesters and authorities navigate the challenges posed by this significant demonstration.
