IMD Weather Update: Sharp Temperature Fluctuations Sweep India, Heatwave Alerts Issued For Punjab, Haryana And Other Regions

Maximum temperatures have dropped by 2 to 4°C at several places in East Uttar Pradesh, North Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, North Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, North Chhattisgarh and North Tamil Nadu.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, temperatures have significantly shifted across various regions of India. Maximum temperatures have dropped by 2 to 4°C at several places in East Uttar Pradesh, North Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, North Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, North Chhattisgarh and North Tamil Nadu. Conversely, maximum temperatures have risen by 2-4°C across Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Northwest Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, parts of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, South Kerala, East Arunachal Pradesh, East Assam, Manipur, and Mizoram.

Current Temperature Ranges Across the Country

As per reports by IMD, “Maximum Temperatures are in the range of 39-42°C over Rajasthan (one station 44 °), Gujarat (One station 43.6), south Madhya
interior Maharashtra, Telangana & adjoining south coastal Andhra Pradesh, south Chhattisgarh, interior Odisha, Rayalaseema; 36-38 °C over Haryana, Delhi, central Uttar Pradesh, north Madhya Pradesh, remaining coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Konkan 30-35°C Punjab, Bihar, Northeast India and Jammu & Kashmir, south Himachal
Pradesh and south Uttarakhand.”

Upcoming Heatwave Alerts

Heatwave conditions are likely over West Rajasthan from April 14-19, with severe heat waves predicted from April 16 to 18.

Other Heatwave affected regions include:
Telangana (April 13–14)
West Madhya Pradesh (April 15–19)
Gujarat (April 15–17)
Punjab, Haryana (April 16–18)
East Rajasthan (April 16–19)
Hot and humid conditions will persist over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam (April 13), and Gujarat (April 15–17).

According to the IMD press release, the maximum temperatures over Northwest India are likely to increase by 3 to 5°C over the next five to six days, spanning April 13 to 18. In Central India, no major changes in day temperatures are anticipated over the next 24 hours, but a gradual rise of 2-4°C is likely during the period from April 14 to 19. A similar trend is projected for West India, where a 2-4°C increase in maximum temperatures is likely over the next five days, followed by no significant change in the subsequent two days.

Past Weather Forecast Of Delhi

As per the IMD press release, There has been a rise in minimum temperature up to 02°C and a slight fall in maximum temperature over Delhi/NCR.
during the past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are in the range of 34 to 35 °C.
