IMD Weather Update: Rain To Lash Western Himalayan Region Until…; Dense Fog Warning For West Bengal And Odisha

Cold wave conditions prevailed in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh while a cold day was witnessed in isolated West Madhya Pradesh. Cold-day conditions are likely to continue in isolated pockets across North India for the coming few days.

IMD Weather Update: Western disturbances have triggered atmospheric changes over the past few days, particularly in the Western Himalayan Region and Northwest India. The weather systems, however, don’t seem to curb for a few days ahead as a Western Disturbance, seen as a cyclonic circulation over north Iran and neighbourhood is expected to bring light rainfall and snowfall across the Western Himalayan Region till the 12th of February, 2025.

Ahead of this disturbance, a wind speed divergence is brewing in the middle tropospheric levels
over Northwest India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts. Under its influence, isolated to scattered light rain/snowfall activity will be witnessed over Sikkim, Northeast Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh from 9th to 12th February. This weather activity would further be increased to Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms & lightning on 11th and 12th February with isolated heavy rainfall on 12th Feb over Arunachal Pradesh.

Dense Fog Warning

Visibility between the range of 50 to 199 m was reported in the isolated pockets of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha during the past 24 hours. IMD predicts dense fog conditions to continue to prevail over these states during the early morning hours till the 10th of February.

Cold Day Warning

Cold wave conditions prevailed in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh while a cold day was witnessed in isolated West Madhya Pradesh. Cold-day conditions are likely to continue in isolated pockets across North India for the coming few days.

Forecast Of temperature

IMD observed a gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2-4℃ over Northwest India during the next 5 days. Additionally, a gradual fall in minimum temperatures up to 2-4℃ is likely over Central and East India during the next 4 days. Central India would witness a significant rise in maximum temperatures up to 2-4℃ during the next 4 days.

AQI, Weather Forecast For Delhi

The overall AQI was recorded as 191 at 6 am on Sunday, February 9, 2025, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). IMD forecasts clear weather in the national capital till the 11th of February and ‘mist’ until today. Amid ‘moderate’ air quality, the city is currently experiencing chilly winds blowing during the early morning hours.
