In a fresh twist to Kerala nurse Nimisha Priya’s execution case, Abdul Fattah Mahdi, brother of the slain Talal, has made serious accusations against Nimisha’s mediator, Samuel Jerome. Abdul Mahdi has accused Samuel of pocketing huge sums in the name of negotiations. “He made incalculable amounts in the name of negotiations, and the last one is forty thousand dollars.” Mahdi also stated that neither he nor any other family members had ever met him in person, spoken to him by phone, or exchanged any text messages regarding this matter.
Samuel Jerome was reported by Malayalam and international media, including the BBC, as the lawyer in Nimisha Priya’s case. However, Abdul Fattah Mahdi, brother of the victim Talal, claims Jerome is not a lawyer but merely holds power of attorney as a representative for the accused’s family in Yemen. Mahdi further alleges that Jerome has made no significant efforts in the case, never contacting or messaging him to discuss mediation. Mahdi also claims he first met Jerome in Sana’a after the president approved Nimisha’s death sentence, where Jerome allegedly said “congratulations” to him, seeing his relief. Additionally, Mahdi accuses Jerome of making false claims, receiving substantial payments—including $40,000 for supposed mediation talks—and exploiting his brother’s death for profit.
What Abdul Fattah Mahdi Wrote
“He is not a lawyer as he claims. Samuel Jerome is a media activist and a representative of the murderer’s family, not a lawyer as he claimed to the BBC. He moves between platforms, collecting donations, and has embezzled countless amounts of money in the name of “negotiation” — the latest being forty thousand dollars.
“Jerome Congratulated Me After President Signed Nimisha’s Execution”
We didn’t meet him, we didn’t see him, no call, no text message on this topic, and his challenge proves the opposite. After the president approved the execution order, I met him in Sanaa. I was surprised to see how cheerful he looked — he even congratulated me with a big smile.
A few hours later, while going through media reports from Kerala, India, I came across the latest news: he had demanded $20,000 from them, claiming it was to cover the so-called “negotiation expenses” with Talal’s family.
For years, he has exploited our pain and loss in the name of “mediation” — a process we only ever heard about through his media claims. We know the real story, and if he doesn’t stop spreading lies and misinformation, we will expose the truth. “
