There are various schemes run by the central government and the state governments. Thorugh these schemes the government provide financial support to the beneficiaries. One such scheme is the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
Under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), Delhi will provide significant healthcare support to a targeted group of ten lakh disadvantaged families. Through PMJAY, the BJP government aims to enhance healthcare services for the poorest residents of Delhi.
Over 10.65 lakh elderly people aged 70 and above can get the medical care at zero cost in both public and private facilities under the scheme, as reported by Jagran.
The Beneficiaries will be receive Rs 5 lakh in health coverage through Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY, combined with an additional Rs 5 lakh through the state government’s health insurance program, effectively providing free treatment worth up to Rs 10 lakh, as per media reports.
The Delhi Health Department has initiated the scheme’s implementation process through registration procedures. Authorities have instructed 11 district administrations to conduct Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY registrations for one lakh families over the next month.
Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY was launched by the central government in 2018, offering health coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family for those below specified economic thresholds, based on the 2011 Socio-Economic Caste Census data.
