During the immersion of Saraswati idols, there was a fight between two groups in certain areas of the Darbhanga district of Bihar. More than 10 people were injured, Following the incident, all social networking sites and instant messaging services were blocked from sending messages. After the incident internet services have been stopped till 19th February.
What Happened In Bihar’s Darbhanga?
Police said a fight broke out between two groups on Friday during Saraswati idol immersion in Darbhanga’s Bahera locality of Bihar. According to the police, there was stone-pelting between people on both sides and sustained minor injuries. The Police further stated, “The situation was immediately brought under control.”

In a circular published on Saturday, the home department stated that “certain anti-social elements are using the internet to disseminate hateful content, which incites people to commit various offenses against communal harmony, damage to life and property, and disturb peace and tranquility.”
Several Arrests Have Been Made
Forty people have been arrested so far after a formal complaint was filed in this matter. To capture over 150 identified and unnamed suspects, a manhunt has been initiated. A senior police official reported that the event resulted in at least 10 injuries.
There were brief clashes between two communities on Friday in Darbhanga’s Bishanpur and Hayaghat police station locations. Another police officer stated that a similar occurrence occurred on Friday in the Bhagalpur district’s Lodipur region and that the situation was quickly brought under control.
