James Foley, the American director who is known for his work in the Fifty Shades of Grey sequels has passed away at the age of 71. He had been struggling with the brain cancer since more than a year. And as per the director’s representative, James has died peacefully in his sleep earlier this week.
James Foley Professional Life
James’s career in Hollywood has longed for around four decades which included films, music videos and some popular television series. He made his directorial debut in 1984 with Reckless featuring Aidan Quinn and Daryl Hannah.
He collaborated with Madonna in 1986, directing several of her iconic music videos including Papa Don’t Preach, Live to Tell and True Blue and more.
However, he rose to full fame with Glengarry Glen Ross (1992), a powerful drama based on David Mamet’s play starring performances from Al Pacino and Alec Baldwin.
In the recent years, James directed the final two instalments of the Fifty Shades series, including Fifty Shades Darker (2017) and Fifty Shades Freed (2018). These romantic thrillers which starred Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan gained widespread accalaim.
Talking about television, James foley has directed 12 episodes of Netflix’s political drama House of Cards, further strengthening his reputation as a storyteller.
Personal Life And Legacy
James Foley had his brother Kevin Foley, two sisters Eileen and Jo Ann Foley and his nephew Quinn Foley as his family.
The filmmaker is remembered for his different style, his ability to handle both tv drama and large-scale movie productions and his contributions across multiple genres.
