John Abraham’s political thriller, The Diplomat, is slowly gaining pace at the domestic box office. This action thriller, directed by Shivam Nair has been receiving postive word of mouth which is resulting in box office numbers. After a not so spectacular opening, the movie saw a rise by around 12% on day two, signaling strong audience interest.
Box Office Collection Day 2
As per reports by The Sanilk, The Diplomat collected Rs.4 crore net on the opening day. The intense performance of John Abraham and the thrilling storyline of the film have been appreciated by both fans and critics. On day 2 the film saw a boost in revenues, collecting Rs.4.5 crore net. This brings the total India box office collection of the film to Rs. 8.5 crore.

True Story Behind The Diplomat
The film is inspired by the real life ordeal of Indian national Uzma Ahmad, who was rescued and brought back to India to 2017. She claimed to had been lured into traveling to Pakistan, where she was forced into marriage at gunpoint and subjected to abuse. Her harrowing escape and return to India became a major diplomatic event, forming the basis of the film’s gripping narrative.
John Abraham On The Rising Cost Of Hindi Cinema
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, John talked about how the high cost is affecting the Hindi film industry. He shared, “It’s already hurting Hindi cinema. We [actors] don’t justify those huge budgets and the huge fees that we get paid.”
“We can’t load a film with an entourage cost as well, it’s ridiculous. I don’t know if the actor is not thinking, or their agent is making them think different,” he added.
The movie also stars Sadia Khateeb, Kumud Mishra, Sharib Hashmi and Revathy.
