Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: Accused Hits Back, Calls Arrest ‘Illegal’ In Mumbai Court!

Mohammad Shariful Islam, the man accused of stabbing actor Saif Ali Khan, has claimed in court that his arrest was illegal.

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan stabbing case accused, Mohammad Shariful Islam has approached the Mumbai court claiming that his arrest was illegal. The 30-year-old Bangladeshi citizen filed an application on Friday arguing that the police failed to follow proper procedures at the time of his arrest.

No Information Given During Arrest, Says Plea

According to Shariful’s plea, the arrest has violated Section 47 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which argues that any person being arrested must be informed about the reasons for their arrest and their right to apply for bail. He revealed that he was not provided with these details in textual format and that there were no official records to even confirm.

The court has now urged police to respond to these claims of the accused and the next hearing in the case has been scheduled for May 13.

Shariful has also withdrawn his bail application, today which had been filed earlier in April. Currently , he is being held at Arthur Road Jail, Mumbai.

For those who are unaware, this all has happened following the incident that occurred on January 16 , 2025, when Bollywood actor, Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder inside his Bandra apartment. The actor, had suffered multiple stab wounds and underwent emergency surgery. Later on, he was discharged from the hospital after five days but security hightened.
