Actor Radhika Apte is set to make her first film as a director. The movie, called Koyta (Sickle), is an action-fantasy and will be produced by Bollywood filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane. Motwane is known for working on films like Black Warrant, which featured Zahan Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor’s cousin.
The news was shared as part of the CineV-CHD Market lineup at the Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF). This year, the festival featured 22 projects from both famous and new filmmakers
About The Movie
Koyta will be in Hindi and Marathi. The story follows a young migrant woman who works as a sugarcane cutter. She is forced to undergo a medical procedure that gives her superpowers. She then uses these powers to help her family escape from debt.
Radhika Apte’s Upcoming Project
Apart from Koyta, Radhika Apte will also appear in a period thriller called Akka. The series, which also stars Keerthy Suresh, was introduced in February at a big Netflix event in Mumbai.
About Akka
Set in the 1980s, Akka takes place in the fictional South Indian city of Pernuru, where women rule society. The story focuses on gangster queens whose power is threatened by an outsider, leading to a fight for survival.
Akka is written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, and produced by Aditya Chopra, Yogendra Mogre, and Akshaye Widhani under YRF Entertainment. Along with Radhika Apte and Keerthy Suresh, veteran actress Tanvi Azmi will play an important role in the series.
