Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, who tied the knot with longtime boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal in an intimate civil ceremony last year, recently responded to a troll on social media who speculated about her divorce. The couple, who registered their marriage under the Special Marriage Act, have largely stayed away from online negativity, but this time Sonakshi decided to respond directly.
A fan page made a reel showcasing moments of Sonakshi and Zaheer recently went viral with the caption: “Don’t get married if your man is not this obsessed with you.” While the post garnered positive reactions, a user commented, “Ur divorce is too close to u.”
Sonakshi replied, “Pehle tere mummy papa karenge, phir hum. Promise” (First your parents will get divorced, then we will. Promise). The response has since been widely shared and appreciated online.
The actress has previously addressed rumours about her pregnancy. In a recent interview with Curly Tales she clarified that she is not expecting, adding humorously, “Yes, and guys, mein yahan par kehna chahti hu, I’m not pregnant. Mein bas moti ho chuki hu.” (I want to say here that I’m not pregnant. I have just gained weight). That day somebody congratulated him (Zaheer Iqbal). Can’t we enjoy our marriage?” Zaheer quipped, “The next day her diet started.”
Despite online criticism, Sonakshi and Zaheer continue to share updates from their married life. The couple had earlier turned off comments on their wedding posts to avoid negative comments, but have occasionally responded to misinformation or personal remarks.
