The Empuraan team is in dismay and turmoil as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) continues its raids at the offices of the film’s producer, Gokulam Gopalan. The ED is also questioning the prominent industrialist and producer at his residence in Vadakara. The ED is actively seeking information about a large investment that a person recently made in his ‘Gokulam Chit Funds’, according to various reports. Raids are also underway at Gokulam Gopalan’s financial institutions in Kozhikode and Chennai’s Kodambakkam.
Mohanlal Boasts Rs 100 Crore Collection On Day 8
Meanwhile, the ‘Complete Actor’, who plays a major role in L2 Empuraan, shared a post on Facebook highlighting the film’s Day 8 collection. According to Mohanlal’s post, Empuraan has earned Rs 100 crore in net collections within India, just eight days after its release. The film has generated massive hype and has already entered the Rs 200 crore club. Various reports suggest that 30 lakh tickets were sold for Empuraan on BookMyShow within 120 hours.
However, the film has faced backlash from Sangh Parivar organizations, which accused it of distorting history related to the Godhra incident and the Gujarat riots. Following mounting pressure, the producers reportedly made 24 cuts to the film.
Theaters are now showing the re-censored version, which omits some of the controversial parts. At the time, Gokulam Gopalan responded that he had asked director Prithviraj to take necessary action if the movie had hurt anyone. He also said he collaborated on Empuraan because he believed a film featuring beloved actors should not be abandoned.
Not 17 But The Film Underwent 24 Cuts
The revised version of Empuraan has undergone 24 cuts instead of 17. The authorities have released the updated censor certificate confirming these edits. The filmmakers have changed the main villain’s name from Balraj Bajrangi to ‘Baldev.’ They have also omitted Union Minister Suresh Gopi’s name from the thank-you card, as he had asked the crew to remove it.
The filmmakers have released the re-edited version of the film following widespread protests. They have removed the scene where a vehicle passes in the background of religious symbols, as well as the conversation between the main villain and the co-villain. They have muted the reference to the NIA in the film and removed the board in the car.
Additionally, they have cut scenes depicting violence against women in the opening part, along with the scenes of the dead body and the conflict. They have also removed the conversation between the child playing Prithviraj’s younger self and his father at the beginning. Furthermore, they have edited out some references to actor Nandu’s character as a minister.
