Malayalam filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan has been booked for allegedly harassing an actress on social media. The case was registered at the Elamakkara Police Station in Ernakulam after the actress filed a complaint accusing him of misconduct, privacy violations, and repeatedly tagging her in posts.
Sasidharan Addresses Allegations, Writes Open Letter
Following the complaint, Sasidharan responded to the allegations through an Instagram post and an open letter addressed to actress Manju Warrier. He expressed concerns over the case being filed despite a previous complaint against him remaining unresolved for over three years.
“I saw the news that a case has been registered against me again at Elamakkara Police Station on charges of insulting womanhood. The reason for this case is my statement to the public that your life is in danger and that you are not allowed to be seen or spoken to,” he wrote.
The director further alleged that the police case was an attempt to silence discussions about the actress’s safety. “I had already informed you, your family, and close friends before making my concerns public. Despite not being allowed to communicate with you, I shared the information supported by a recording of our conversation,” he claimed.

Actress Accuses Director Of Privacy Violation
According to a report by Mathrubhumi, the complainant alleged that Sasidharan had repeatedly harassed her online, tagged her in posts, and released audio notes in her name. She also claimed that he uploaded one of her movies online for free without her consent.
The actress further stated that Sasidharan’s repeated claims about her life being in danger were distressing and unwarranted. The case was officially registered on Monday, January 27, 2025.

Sanal Kumar Sasidharan & Manju Warrier’s Past Collaboration
Sanal Kumar Sasidharan and Manju Warrier last worked together in A’hr Kayattam (2019), a film that never saw a theatrical release. Instead, it was screened at select film festivals before the director released it online for free through Google Drive links.
Despite the legal scrutiny, Sasidharan remained defiant. “Regarding the case, I have no fear. Everything I said was the truth,” he concluded, adding hashtags #ManjuWarrier #SanalKumarSasidharan to his post.
