Isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over northernmost states such as Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi during next week from January 21st to 23rd.

Delhi Pollution: Delhi experienced a much-needed respite on Saturday, January 18, 2025, after the air quality dropped to the ‘poor’ category. The city recorded an AQI of 249 at 6 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Delhi witnessed a thick layer of fog in different parts despite improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI).

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the minimum temperature in Delhi/NCR has declined by up to 1°C during the past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded between 17 and 20°C and 8 to 9°C, respectively. The Met Body forecasts partly cloudy skies in the city on January 19 and clear weather on January 20. Isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over northernmost states such as Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi during the next week from January 21st to 23rd.

Additionally, cold waves gripped the national capital during the early morning and late night hours amid reduced visibility.

Pollution Curbs Eased In Delhi

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Friday revoked GRAP Stage III in the entire NCR after noticing a downward trend in the AQI levels in Delhi. However, actions under Stages I and II of the extant GRAP will remain invoked. There are chances that the AQI will remain in the ‘lower end of the very poor category in the coming days owing to favorable weather conditions and strong wind speeds’.
