Delhi Pollution: AQI Dips Back To ‘Poor’ After Brief Improvement Following Incessant Rain

Delhi recorded 41.2 mm of downpour in the past 24 hours, marking the highest single-day December rainfall in 101 years, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Delhi Pollution: After a short-lived improvement in air quality due to heavy rain in different parts of Delhi in the past two to three days, the AQI has again moved back to the ‘ poor’ category on Sunday. The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital was recorded as 223 as of 7 am.

The air quality shifted from ‘poor’ to ‘moderate’ category on Saturday, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The fluctuation in air quality comes after rains brought some relief to Delhiites which led to comparatively clearer air than before.

A thin layer of fog engulfed the national capital during the morning hours on Sunday as the minimum temperature dipped to 12°C.

Delhi recorded 41.2 mm of downpour in the past 24 hours, marking the highest single-day December rainfall in 101 years, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The Centre’s air quality monitoring panel on Friday revoked Stage III measures of the revised Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) due to suitable weather conditions like continuous rainfall in Delhi/NCR.

AQI In Different Parts Of Delhi

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the following AQIs were reported in different parts of Delhi as of 7 am today: Okhla Phase 2 (245), Alipur (202), Rohini (271), ITO (243), Ashok Vihar (251), Shadipur (222), Mundka (270), Jahangirpuri (288), Narela (191), DTU (140), R.K. Puram (252), Anand Vihar (287), Pusa (238), and Punjabi Bagh (214).
