Rising petrol prices burning a hole in your pocket? We have got you covered. For your convenience, we have listed all CNG SUVs currently on sale in India. All of these fall under the same segment and could be the perfect choice for buyers who seek a daily commuter with affordable fill-ups. With this comprehensive comparison, you will be able to choose the vehicle that best suits your needs.
Hyundai Exter CNG
Hyundai has designed the new Exter with a harmonious blend of performance and practicality. The Exter CNG variant is powered by a 1.2 Bi-Fuel Kappa engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine produces 67.72 bhp of power at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 95.2 Nm at 4000 rpm. The ex-showroom price of the SX-CNG variant is around Rs 9.24 lakh. Witnessing the rising sales of the Exter CNG, Hyundai has now offered the base model with a CNG powertrain as well. So, you can opt for a CNG powertrain in the lower-end variants too.
Suzuki Wagon R CNG
The Suzuki Wagon R has been the go-to choice for many as their primary vehicle. The Japanese tall-boy design of this hatchback has resonated well with Indian buyers, with the car selling strongly across all its generations.
The tall-boy design allows for a roomy interior, which, combined with the efficiency and practicality of a Suzuki engine, has made the car a major hit. If you are looking for a CNG version of the Wagon R, you have two options: the LXI CNG 1.0L or the VXI 1.0 CNG. The VXI variant comes with several additional features over the LXI model. These include electronically adjustable ORVMs, body-coloured door handles, body-coloured bumpers, and body-coloured ORVMs.
Beyond these additions, the VXI variant also features a 60:40 rear seat split, tilt steering, safety features such as driver and passenger airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, seatbelt pre-tensioners, rear parking sensors, and child-proof rear door locks. The LXI variant does not include speed-sensitive auto door locks or a security alarm.
Tata Punch
The Tata Punch, along with the Tata Altroz, is another strong contender you can consider. The Punch CNG is powered by a 1.2L Revotron engine that produces 103 Nm of torque at 3250 rpm and a peak power output of 73.5 bhp at 6000 rpm. Both the Altroz and the Punch come with a 60-litre CNG tank capacity.
The Punch CNG is an ideal choice for commuters looking to upgrade from two-wheelers to a car while keeping operational costs low. The added power and performance of the Punch, along with its twin-tank CNG system, allow for significantly more boot space than the Wagon R. This makes the Punch a more formidable choice in comparison.
Nissan Magnite CNG
The all-new Nissan Magnite is now available with a government-approved retrofit CNG kit that offers a cleaner and more economical driving experience. The kit comes with a 3-year/1 lakh km warranty to ensure peace of mind in the event of a CNG powertrain failure. The CNG version is powered by a 1.0L, 999cc DOHC engine. The kit is available through Nissan’s authorized dealers.
